IRET Foundation coordinates the Translational BioHub for Innovative Therapies, one of the new BioHubs in the network promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in strategic biotechnology.
The BioHubs were created to promote regional excellence and facilitate technology transfer by connecting research, businesses, startups, and institutions. The goal is to accelerate the development of innovative solutions in sectors critical to European competitiveness and public health.
Hosted at the “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Bologna-Ozzano Technopole and coordinated by IRET Foundation, the Translational BioHub brings together the complementary expertise of TransMed Research, the Nanotech Lab at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and JSB Solutions, creating an integrated platform dedicated to innovative therapies.
The Translational BioHub operates in the field of translational research – the process that transforms laboratory findings into concrete applications for patients. Through advanced preclinical models, the development of nanomedicines, safety studies, and regulatory support, the Translational BioHub guides innovation through the various stages of development, bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical practice.
The activities focus in particular on neurodegenerative diseases, dementias, spinal cord injuries, and rare diseases, with the goal of contributing to the development of increasingly effective, safe, and personalized therapies.
