On the occasion of R2B 2025 – Research to Business, held at the Bologna exhibition center on June 25 and 26, the exhibition space dedicated to innovation hosted posters of research projects funded under the Emilia-Romagna Region’s specialization platforms. Among these was the AI4ChemoBrain project, led by us, which gained visibility in a context of exchange between research, businesses, and the local area.
Next to the Main Stage, where important meetings were held, the “Tech Wall” offered visitors an overview of content, images, and keywords: an immersive journey in which each poster recounts the research trajectory, the technologies used, and the expected applications.
From an immersive experience to a look toward the future
AI4ChemoBrain – A machine learning/artificial intelligence model for personalized medicine: development of a predictive demonstrator for cognitive complications during chemotherapy based on subject-derived phenotype and omics data
Thanks to an approach based on machine learning and artificial intelligence, AI4ChemoBrain aims to develop a predictive demonstrator capable of early identification of individual risk of cognitive impairment in cancer patients undergoing treatment.
The goal? To move beyond the “one size fits all” approach in oncology and provide concrete tools to personalize therapies and cognitive rehabilitation pathways, reducing the impact of chemobrain on patients’ quality of life.
Workshop “Personalized medicine, between training, digitization, and sustainability”
During the workshop promoted by Clust-ER Health, Prof. Laura Calzà presented the AI4ChemoBrain project.
Her presentation brought to the attention of all participants how artificial intelligence can be applied to personalized medicine to address the cognitive effects related to cancer therapies.
It was an important opportunity to discuss how Clust-ER regional networks can support cutting-edge projects by promoting collaborative research and knowledge transfer.
Looking ahead: synergies and next steps
For us, being present at R2B means not only communicating project updates, but also building new synergies with those who believe in innovation as a driver of collective well-being.
