As Bologna-Ozzano Technopole, part of the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network, we are organizing the international conference “PFAS, environment, health: the chemical legacy of our time”, to be held in Bologna on Saturday, November 22, in collaboration with the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe).
The initiative, open to the citizenry, aims to foster an informed dialogue among researchers, companies and institutions on one of the most debated environmental issues of recent years: PFAS pollution.
A highly topical issue
Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are currently attracting growing interest from the scientific community and the media due to their impact on the environment, on human and animal health, and their persistence in ecosystems.
Following the success of the first meeting held in Padua on June 19, the Bologna conference represents a new opportunity for discussion and outreach, open to a broader audience.
The event will be structured into two thematic sessions:
- Morning session – General overview of the topic, focusing on the impact of PFAS on human and animal health. Speakers will include experts from IZSVe, the University of Bologna, the University of Parma, and the Karolinska Institute.
- Afternoon session – Insights into the countermeasures adopted at European and national levels, both in terms of policy and technology, with the presentation of case studies by companies and research organizations.
A simultaneous translation service will be available for talks held in Italian.
The full programme, including all presentations, will be published shortly.
